Sumicos pearl pigments are mica crystalline platelets, coated with metal oxides like Titanium Dioxide and/or Iron Oxide. The refractive index of the mica platelets increases with the coating of metal oxide. Pearl pigments are readily oriented into parallel layers because of their lamellar shape.

Incident light is partially reflected and partially transmitted through the pigment. The transmitted light undergoes a similar phenomenon which results in multiple parallel reflections. Simultaneous reflection & refraction of the light from the many microscopic layers produce a kind of shimmery lustre, called ‘Pearl essence’.

Sumicos Pearl pigments can be used for numerous cosmetics applications including Lip sticks, Lip Gloss, Eye Brow Pencils, Eye Liners, Eye Shadow, Face Foundation, Shampoo, Bathing Soap, Hand wash and Hair Styling Gel.
