Sudarshan Chemical Divests VP4 Frankfurt to Celanese, Sharpening Focus on Core Pigments Business
Pune, India | 1 September 2026— Sudarshan Chemical Industries Limited (Sudarshan) today announced the sale of its step-down subsidiary VP4 Frankfurt GmbH (“VP4” Frankfurt) to Celanese Corporation, USA, further sharpening the company’s focus on its core pigments business. VP4 Frankfurt is engaged in the manufacture of certain intermediates such as Diketene, primarily as a tolling operator for Nutrinova, an affiliate of Celanese Corporation and Mitsui & Co. Japan. VP4 Frankfurt became part of Sudarshan through its acquisition of the Heubach Group. This divestment strengthens Sudarshan’s strategic focus and operational position.
VP4 Frankfurt serves Nutrinova as its principal customer, with only a small share of its output going to Sudarshan for captive consumption. Diketene is an important intermediate for functional food ingredients, making the asset a stronger strategic fit with Celanese and Nutrinova, a producer of additives for the food industry such as sweeteners. The transaction, therefore, places VP4 Frankfurt more closely aligned with its principal customer. Following completion of the transaction, Nutrinova will continue to supply Sudarshan with the materials it requires.
