Pune, India — August 2026: Sudarshan Chemical Industries Limited announced that its near-term greenhouse gas emission-reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the global body that independently assesses corporate climate goals against the latest climate science.

The validated targets commit Sudarshan to a 58.8% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by FY2035, against an FY2025 baseline, in line with a 1.5°C pathway. The company has also committed to extending climate action across its value chain, with suppliers representing 90.8% of emissions from purchased goods and services set to adopt science-based targets of their own by FY2030.

Sudarshan will pursue these targets through a combination of operational efficiency and low-carbon energy transition measures. Key levers include improving energy efficiency across manufacturing operations, increasing the share of renewable electricity through a range of procurement mechanisms, and shifting towards lower-carbon fuels.

This is a noteworthy milestone for the company, since its acquisition of Heubach Group, a German pigment maker, in March 2025. The deal expanded Sudarshan’s manufacturing footprint from two to 19 plants across the globe.

The current validation covers Sudarshan’s legacy operations. Post-acquisition operations will be brought within the target boundary progressively, in keeping with SBTi requirements and timelines.

SBTi validation confirms that our targets are grounded in climate science and measurable against it. The work now is delivery — efficiency gains on the ground, a steadily larger share of renewable electricity, and a shift to cleaner fuels — alongside close engagement with the suppliers who account for most of our value chain emissions.” — Shivalika Raje, Chief Sustainability Officer, Sudarshan Chemical Industries Limited.
